I enjoyed both the commentary and the John Cork documentary. Original Album In Stereo + Unreleased Material In Mono Pressed On Orange & Blue Vinyl - Limited To 500 Copies Quartet Records and MGM present the re-issue of the first official complete vinyl edition of Burt Bacharachs timeless classic soundtrack for the 1967 James Bond spoof Casino Royale. Originally released in mono, 'Casino Royale' has been given a Dolby 5.1 retrofit, placing mono music tracks (with slight pseudo-stereo warming) in the front surrounds dialogue, sound effects and music in the centre speaker and rear surrounds offering panning effects with slight reverb/echo and a few sound effects processed for explosions. I never picked up the 40th anniversay DVD but was tempted to do so a few times. The Climax Barry Nelson CR is not included. The Blu-Ray of CASINO ROYALE mimics the extras of the 40th anniversay DVD. This is the best Maverick has looked on home video and as it's from 1994 I don't expect it to be reissued on blu ray. Picture is clean, but it doesn't jump out or pop. The color is much better on blu ray than the DVD. The print is a good one, but it's not a reference blu ray at all. I noted in reviews of the 2 DVD releases that the Climax Barry Nelson Casino Royale tv movie was dropped for the 40th anniversary DVD!!! However John Cork did a new documentary about the film for the 40th. So for Casino Royale 1967 did they use the same extras as the 40th anniversary DVD? I have the first Casino Royale DVD release. Either late this year, but most likely in 2012 with Bond 23. Maybe the fact they are being pulled from Netflix streaming is a good sign, that they are coming soon to blu ray? They are coming at some point soon.
